While we were visiting the family, Pierre and I went on to Quebec City for the a little getaway. It was so wonderful to get away just the 2 of us! Even the rain on the first night didn't get us down...it was kind of romantic walking the narrow streets of old Quebec City with the light rain!
This was the hotel we stayed at. Our room was on the top floor....all narrow staircases to walk up. A LOT of stairs, but very quaint!
An example of the beautiful narrow streets in Old Quebec.
We even did some geocaching while we were there. Quite a bit of it actually! This 'cache' is the cannonball itself! One of the stories is that it landed in the base of the tree during the War of 1759, and over the years the tree has grown around it! Pretty cool touching a piece of history like that!
We just HAD to get some French wine to have while we sat and looked out the windows of our room.
So yummy!
I'm only adding this because I NEVER let anyone take pictures of me....so...here's me.
And my french man in a 17th century french hat! They had him wear this during a tour of La Citadelle....a defence fortress that was obsolete by the time it was finished, and now used for the Royal 22e RĂ©giment, the only Francophone infantry regiment in the Canadian Forces Regular Force. Very interesting tour! And beautiful views!
It was a great getaway!!
